The Black Mountain Bluegrass Picking Weekend
June 21st to 23rd

We have received the following press release from the organisers;

The bi-annual “Black Mountain Bluegrass Picking Weekend” takes place at Baskerville Hall close to the small village of Clyro and a stones throw from Hay on Wye. Our hosts Christine Cleaton and June Ash have run this pick for years at various locations in and around Herefordshire.

Baskerville Hall is situated on the A438 Hereford to Brecon trunk road and for the sat nav operators, just dial in HR3 5LE and the technology will take you there.

So, what’s different? Well for a start, one is completely in control of entertainment. There are no distracting concerts, occasionally, workshops are hastily organised where someone suitable might be around. It’s totally democratic, you do and play what you want in the Hall rooms and gardens, in the camping field. A real chill out and being in the beautiful Wye Valley, a good walk by the river is an attractive thing to do for a couple of hours. There is even a swimming pool there!

The venue, Baskerville Hotel offer greet value rooms from dorm like to single rooms and of course camping. If looking hotel accommodation, it is wise to book early to make sure you get what you want.
Contact Baskerville hall and mention the Black Mountain Bluegrass Picking Weekend when booking.

The venue is at Clyro Court, Hay-on-Wye, Powys , HR3 5LE and you can contact the organisers on 01497-820033, by email at info@baskervillehall.co.uk or online at www.baskervillehall.co.uk.

Wharfe Bluegrass Festival May 17th to 19th

The organisers of the Wharfe bluegrass festival have been in touch with the following message. The festival will be held over the weekend of May 17th to 19th.

Good news at last. We have found a great venue at the Red Lion, Stiffords Bridge near Malvern. WR13 5NN

There is much more room inside and covered outside than we have had recently.

  • Strictly acoustic only.
  • Camping is free but you are expected to spend money in the pub in exchange.
  • There are no outside toilets so we will have to pay for a portaloo or two. Payment will be needed from everybody, even if you have your own facilities, as they will be necessary to hold the event.
